Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar) has been awarded two PV projects totaling 2 GW capacity under the sixth round of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program. The portfolio includes the 1.4 GW Najran plant, and the 600 MW Ad Darb facility in Jizan Province. Both of the assets are to be developed on a build-own-operate basis under a 25-year PPA with the Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC). The Ad Darb facility is scheduled to be commercially operatable by H2 2027, followed by the Najran project in the H1 2028. Masdar’s selection marks its third consecutive year of securing the largest capacity in SPPC tenders, strengthening its presence in the Kingdom alongside ongoing projects such as the Al Henakiyah and Al Sadawi solar developments.
