Lusail Bus Depot in Lusail City, north of Doha, is the Middle East’s first solar-powered bus facility. It has 11,000 photovoltaic panels installed across 25,000 m², generating 4 MW of electricity to power the depot’s buildings. According to the Ministry of Transport, the facility spans more than 400,000 m² and was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest electric bus depot. It is divided into three zones with nearly 500 electric bus parking bays equipped with 248 chargers, staff accommodations and amenities for 1,400 people, and a dedicated area for Bus Rapid Transit e-buses with 24 bays. The depot also features a 39,000 m² Operation Control Center to monitor all activities. The project supports the Public Bus Infrastructure Program under Qatar National Vision 2030.
