J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., headquartered in Arkansas, has launched a 40-acre solar facility in Gentry to offset corporate electricity consumption. The facility contains nearly 18,000 solar panels, including over 10,000 bi-facial modules, generating approximately 9.3 million kWh of electricity annually. It transmits power to the Carroll County Electric grid using net metering, offsetting up to 80% of the electricity used by J.B. Hunt’s corporate campus in Lowell. The clean energy output is equivalent to the consumption of nearly 1,200 homes, preventing CO₂ emissions comparable to removing 1,400 passenger vehicles yearly. Construction began in 2024, with project management by NextEra Energy, while Verogy handled the final installation and commissioning. Trio and Carroll Electric Cooperative Corporation assisted in planning and consultation.
