JA Solar, a PV manufacturer, and Borussia Dortmund, a professional football club, partner to install a photovoltaic system on the stadium roof of Signal Iduna Park in summer 2025. The project includes more than 11,000 solar modules and is designed to produce over 4 MWh of electricity annually for the club’s internal use. The system is expected to operate for at least 30 years and reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 1,800 tons each year. It has also been estimated to generate enough energy to power stadium floodlights for up to 1,000 matches annually. Installation is scheduled to begin in summer 2025 and completion is expected by the end of the season.
