China-based JA Solar has supplied 40% of the modules for China’s 3 GW Tengger Desert solar project, located in the country’s fourth-largest desert. The project has been developed in phases over more than 2.5 years and is now approaching full grid connection. As the largest module supplier, JA Solar contributed to maintaining progress during the different stages of construction. Its near-completion reflects the scale of ongoing renewable power deployment in the country and demonstrates the technical execution required for projects in difficult terrains. Once connected, the facility will provide significant electricity generation for the region. The Tengger Desert project is among the largest solar developments built in a desert environment and represents a major addition to China’s solar capacity
