US-based Invenergy, a large-scale renewable energy developer, commenced commercial operations at the 300 MW Delilah 1 Solar Energy Center in Lamar and Red River Counties, Texas. WEC Energy Group held the majority ownership in Deliah 1 Solar. The energy generated from Delilah 1 Solar will be purchased by Honda Motor Co., LTD (200 MW) and Tesla (100 MW) through virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs) and be delivered to the local grid. The project increased power generation capacity in Texas and helped to reduce emissions. Local landowners and communities contributed to its completion, creating jobs and economic benefits. Honda aimed to use only carbon-free electricity in North America, and its 200 MW VPPA with Delilah 1 lowered CO2 emissions from its US auto manufacturing while adding clean energy to the grid
