Infinity Libya, a subsidiary of Infinity Group, has signed an agreement in September 2024 with Al-Jouf Free Zone to develop Libya’s first 1MW solar power plant in Kufra. The project was executed in partnership with Lamsa Company for General Contracting and Real Estate Investment as the main contractor. Construction progressed over eight months, culminating in the plant’s official handover on 25 May 2025, ahead of the scheduled timeline. Designed with a planned capacity of 1.14MWp, the facility is now fully operational and managed by locally trained engineers employed by Infinity Libya. The plant is expected to generate up to 2,182MWh of electricity annually to directly power the Al-Jouf Free Zone. It is intended to reduce diesel consumption by approximately 545,000 liters and cut carbon emissions by around 1,300 tons each year. Beyond energy supply, the project also contributed to local job creation and technical capacity-building in Libya’s renewable energy sector.
