Hassan Allam Utilities, a Cairo-based infrastructure and energy group, through its renewable energy platform HAU Energy, has signed agreements with Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to develop two large-scale renewable projects totaling 1,200 megawatts of solar capacity and 720 megawatt-hours of battery storage. According to Hassan Allam Utilities, the portfolio includes a 200 MW solar plant with 120 MWh storage in Benban and a 1,000 MW solar plant with 600 MWh storage in Minya, planned for commercial operation between the third quarters of 2026 and 2027. Infinity Power, an Egypt-headquartered joint venture between Infinity and Abu Dhabi-based Masdar, has partnered in these projects, which support Egypt’s renewable energy targets of achieving 42 percent of its national power mix from clean sources by 2030.
