The first solar-powered balcony system in Vietnam is set to be installed at a residential building in Ho Chi Minh City. The project is part of the ‘Balcony Solar System for Vietnam’ (BSS4VN) initiative, which was officially launched on June 19 in Ho Chi Minh City. The initiative has been jointly developed by the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ), Phuc Khang Corporation, and other partners. According to GIZ(Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), the model is inspired by Germany’s widespread use of balcony solar units, where over 800,000 systems were installed in 2024. The model offers a compact, easy-to-install, and cost-efficient alternative to traditional rooftop solar. Under the BSS4VN project, approximately 100 balcony solar systems are planned for installation in Ho Chi Minh City between June 2025 and April 2027 to support urban energy solutions.
