US-based Fullerton College and Renewable Energy company, ForeFront Power has recently completed a 1 MW solar carport system in Fullerton, California. The solar canopy, installed in Student Parking Lot 5, is expected to generate over 1.8 million kwh of electricity annually and save the college nearly $6 million for over 20 years. The system is projected to offset approximately 19% of the college’s electricity use and prevent around 1,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. Developed through a Power Purchase Agreement with no upfront cost under SPURR’s REAP Program, the project also serves as a pilot for the North Orange County Community College District’s sustainability efforts.
