Indigenized Energy, headquartered in the US, has completed the US' first Solar for All projects with the Chippewa Cree and Oglala Sioux Tribes, which are part of the 14-member TREC that received $135.5 million in EPA funding. Indigenized Energy fully funded these initiatives at no cost to them, providing solar installations and workforce training. The Oglala Sioux project, in collaboration with Red Cloud Renewable, trained participants from five tribes, while the Chippewa Cree project included 13 trainees. Over 100 applications were received for 30 trainee positions, with all participants identifying as Indigenous and six trainees have secured full-time solar jobs. The projects feature residential solar installations with 8kW of power per home and home batteries for energy resilience. The next phase is planned for Spring 2025, weather permitting.
