UK-based Exagen received its first planning approval of 2025 for the Holly Lane Energy Park. The project includes a 34 MW solar farm in Solihull and a 75 MW battery storage system in Warwick. Once running, it will provide electricity for about 9,200 homes. The site is designed to blend with its surroundings, using natural screening. The project aims to connect to the grid by 2027 and will supply 6% of Solihull’s renewable energy target for 2041. Public consultations began in April 2023, allowing community input to shape the design. A community benefit fund will support local initiatives throughout the project’s lifespan. The Planning Inspectorate granted approval two weeks after the appeal hearing. Exagen is now preparing for construction to meet the planned grid connection date.
