ES Foundry an US-based opened its 400,000 sq. ft. solar manufacturing facility in Greenwood, South Carolina. It aimed to employ 500 people by June 2025. It was set to become the largest US producer of crystalline silicon PV solar cells. The plant is planned to reach a 3 GW shipment capacity by Q3 2025. This supported SEIA’s goal of 50 GW solar production by 2030. ES Foundry secured a multi-year contract with a leading solar module manufacturer. Its bifacial PERC solar cells provided a scalable, cost-effective solution and qualified for additional ITC benefits.
SEIA recognized the facility’s role in strengthening US solar manufacturing and energy security, which was expected to boost South Carolina’s economy. The solar sector is set to grow from $306.6 million in 2024 to $1.4 billion by 2035. It was projected to create over 3,300 jobs. The total economic impact was estimated at $19 billion by 2035.
