energyRe, a US-based utility-scale renewable energy developer, has signed a deal with Google to co-develop over 600 MW of solar and solar-plus-storage projects in South Carolina. Google will invest in the projects and purchase Renewable Energy Credits, expanding its clean energy procurement portfolio. According to energyRe, this builds on a previous partnership and brings their jointly supported capacity to more than 1 GW AC. The upcoming projects aim to deliver locally sourced clean power and improve grid reliability in South Carolina. Google stated the agreement aligns with its 2030 target to reach net-zero carbon emissions across operations. energyRe’s national portfolio includes large-scale solar, wind, high-voltage transmission, distributed generation, and storage projects.
