Encore Renewable Energy, headquartered in Vermont, has completed two solar projects in Maine as part of its transition to a fully integrated Independent Power Producer. The projects include the 4 MW Brooks Solar array in Brooks and the 2.3 MW Alpine Street Solar array in Oakland, both energized in 2024. These projects, owned and operated by Encore, incorporate dual-use agriculture through agrivoltaic solutions, which utilizes sheep for vegetation management and soil improvement. Central Maine Power has connected the projects to the grid, with Alpine Street Solar serving towns, schools, and large customers via offtake agreements facilitated by Competitive Energy Services. Brooks Solar supports municipal customers with energy savings through Maine’s remote net energy billing program. Maine energized over 60 solar projects totaling 241 MW in 2024, with plans for additional connections in 2025 to meet climate goals.
