Electricity Authority of Cyprus was named as a finalist for the The smarter E AWARD 2025 in the Category of Outstanding Projects. The project is built for the application of Rooftop PV systems in 405 public schools in Cyprus. This project was commissioned by the Ministry of Education, delivers a combined solar capacity of 4.9 MW. The size of the PV system was adjusted based on the energy consumption of each school. As a part of it, 83,500 sq.mts of total roof area received thermal insulation upgrades. These measures help the school to reduce their energy consumption by around 30%. This project was anticipated to raise awareness for the younger generation about the use of renewable energy and energy-saving measures. Winners will be announced on May 6 during event to be held in Germany.
