EDP Renewables North America, a Houston-based renewable energy developer, has inaugurated the 200MW Scarlet II Solar Park in Fresno County, California. The project follows the earlier Scarlet I installation, which included 200MW of solar and a 40MW/160MWh battery system. Scarlet II features a 150MW/600MWh battery, contracted under long-term Resource Adequacy agreements with Ava Community Energy and San José Clean Energy. The solar output has been secured through a 15-year VPPA. As per California’s Resource Adequacy Program, battery capacity must support grid reliability by covering peak electricity demand. EDP Renewables North America stated that over 140 construction jobs were created and $1.5million was spent locally. The company also confirmed that 1,757 tons of material were recycled with Rosendin during construction through its Close the Loop Program.
