EDF Power Solutions and Korea Western Power Company have signed a Joint Development Agreement for a 1.5 GW solar project. The project will be developed in Abu Dhabi under the Independent Power Producer model. EDF Power Solutions is a subsidiary of France-based EDF Group, and Korea Western Power is a South Korea-based electricity generator. The project has been planned by Emirates Water and Electricity Company, a UAE utility managing electricity and water procurement. It is the fifth utility-scale solar initiative launched under EWEC’s leadership in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. EWEC has targeted a minimum of 10 GW AC solar capacity by 2030 through multiple large-scale solar projects. EWEC has projected total solar PV capacity to increase to at least 18 GW by 2035.
