Proparco funds Ecoener’s 60 MW PV project in the Dominican Republic

Spain-based Ecoener , multinational has secured $43.1 million from Proparco. The funding is for developing the Payita 1 photovoltaic plant in María Trinidad Sánchez, Dominican Republic.The 60 MW plant is currently under construction. It has already secured a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Edenorte. This agreement guarantees $142 million in revenue once the plant becomes operational. Proparco assessed its environmental, social, and technological aspects before approving the funding. Once operational, Payita 1 will generate 118.4 GWh annually, supplying 29,600 households, reducing CO₂ emissions by 64,173 tons, and cutting fossil fuel use by 10,182 tons per year.
