Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), a UAE-based public utility responsible for supplying electricity and water services in Dubai, has invited qualified companies and consortiums to submit proposals for the seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The new phase is set to add 2,000 megawatts (MW) of photovoltaic solar capacity and integrate a 1,400 MW battery energy storage system with a six-hour duration, providing a total storage capacity of 8,400 megawatt-hours. As per DEWA, the project will be developed under the independent power producer model, supporting the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. According to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, the project aligns with the UAE’s goal of achieving 100 percent clean energy by 2050.
