Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced a significant increase in the use of its interactive ‘Hab Reeh’ platform.It enables self-assessments for solar photovoltaic (PV) system designs. In 2024, the platform facilitated over 1,700 solar connection requests marking a year-on-year increase of more than 30%. ‘Hab Reeh’ means speed, efficiency and positivity in Emiratiand is apart of DEWA’s Shams Dubai initiative that allows building owners to install and connect solar PV systems to DEWA’s grid. Till to the date, more than 8,430 buildings have been connected, contributing to a total installed solar capacity of 725 MW. The platform provides unlimited system design options and access to over 150 approved solar equipment types from global manufacturers. DEWA stated that the platform helps contractors and consultants meet high standards while supporting Dubai’s Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.
