Germany-based RWE commissioned the Schönau solar farm, its first photovoltaic plant in Saxony, Germany. The facility is in Wildenfels, Zwickau district, covered 20 hectares and had 36,000 bifacial solar modules, producing 21 million kWh annually—enough for 6,700 households. Its peak capacity was 20 MW (16 MW(AC)). The municipality received 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity, adding up to 42,000 euros annually. More than 50 citizens joined a savings bond from Deutsche Kreditbank AG. The site was maintained naturally with grazing sheep, wild meadows, and safe spaces for skylarks, meadow pipits, and sand lizards.Germany, further expanding its solar portfolio following its recent success in securing 31 solar projects totaling 102 MW DC in Poland.
