Delhi Assembly will become the first assembly in India to operate fully on solar power, aiming to eliminate its INR 2 crore annual electricity bill. A 500 kW rooftop solar system will be installed across a 3,250-square metre area, with tenders expected next week and completion planned within 60 days. The system is projected to generate around 820,000 units of electricity annually, exceeding the building’s current consumption of 700,000 units. Surplus electricity will be fed into the grid and used to offset fixed meter charges. The total project cost is estimated at INR 2 crore, and the installation will carry a 30-year warranty.
