CVE North America, a US-based developer of distributed solar and storage projects, has begun constructing the Riverhead Project in Riverhead, New York. The project includes a 7 MW solar array and a 13.6 MWh BESS located on a capped landfill. According to CVE North America, the PV project is designed to store excess solar power during off-peak periods and discharge it during peak demand hours. The asset is expected to generate 12,000 MWh of electricity annually, which can power approximately 1,500 homes. CVE North America has partnered with the Town of Riverhead to implement the project using dormant land. The Riverhead Project is CVE North America’s first storage installation in New York State. The company currently operates 95 MW of installed community solar capacity across New York and Massachusetts and continues to expand its US development pipeline.
