Opposition quickly emerged, with nearly 500 residents signing a petition against the scheme. Concerns focused on the site’s location within an area of landscape value and its proximity to the Bury Down Iron Age hill fort, ancient hedgerows, and woodland habitats.The portfolio outlines a 50-year project with battery storage, expected to generate electricity for about 9,700 households and reduce around 4,979 tons of CO2 annually Residents also cited noise, visual intrusion, and risks to wildlife, while criticizing the lack of community consultation. Many believe the project would permanently affect village character. A full planning application has not yet been filed.
