Savion, headquartered in Kansas City, has received the 2025 Solar Technology Innovation Award from CleanTech Breakthrough for its Martin County Solar Project. According to Savion, the 111 MW project was developed in partnership with Edelen Renewables on 1,200 acres of reclaimed coal mine land in Martin County, Kentucky. The facility was fully developed, constructed, owned, and operated by Savion and reached commercial operation in January 2025. The site is interconnected with Kentucky Powerโs 138 kV Inez Substation and is among the largest solar projects in the state. As per Savion, 100 MW of capacity will be offtaken by Toyota to support its North American decarbonization goals. The project is projected to supply electricity to more than 33,000 households in Kentucky.ย
