Castle & Key Distillery, headquartered in Kentucky, has recently completed the Phase 1 of its $2 million PV project at the Versailles Warehouse in Woodford County. The project is supported by a Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) Grant. Phase 1 includes 754 solar panels covering 20,950 square feet, generating 407.16 kW DC and 400 kW AC. The distillery currently utilizes 25% of the energy produced, while the remaining power is supplied to Kentucky Utilities, providing electricity to 270–350 homes. Once fully completed, the system will span 63,350 square feet and generate 960 kW AC. Castle & Key is planning to initiate Phase 2 in spring 2025, which will expand solar capacity and strengthen partnerships with industry collaborators, including Speyside Cooperage and Eurostampa.
