The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has released the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Ranegras Plains Energy Center solar project in La Paz County, Arizona. The project covers 5,029 acres of public land, 56 acres of state land, and six private acres. It aims to produce up to 700 MW of electricity, enough to power over 200,000 homes. The proposal includes a 40-year right-of-way grant for a solar facility, battery energy storage system, and an 11-mile 500 kV genetically transmission line connecting to the Ten West Link. The public comment period runs from January 10 to February 25, 2025. A virtual public meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2025. Comments can be submitted online, by email, or by mail. The BLM oversees 245 million acres of public land and has approved renewable energy projects with a capacity exceeding 34 GW.
