Switzerland-based Axpo Group has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with British Solar Renewables (BSR). The agreement is for clean energy from a 25 MW solar PV project at Whaddon Farm, Wiltshire. The site includes a 16MWh co-located battery energy storage system (BESS). The agreement allows Axpo to trade the solar facility’s metered output on UK wholesale markets. It supports renewable energy generation and energy security goals. Flexitricity will manage the BESS. The management will use a trading arrangement with Axpo to optimize performance. This includes wholesale markets, balancing services, and the National Energy System Operator’s Balancing Mechanism.
