Avangrid, headquartered in Connecticut, has announced the commercial operation of its 238 MW AC True North Solar project in Falls County, Texas. The plant includes over 488,000 solar panels and supplies electricity to the Texas grid, supporting Meta’s upcoming data center in Temple. The project construction involved approximately 300 workers, andrepresented a $369 million investment. True North is expected to generate over $40 million in property taxes during its operational life. Avangrid partnered with ARRAY Technologies for solar trackers sourced from its Albuquerque facility and collaborated with Black & Veatch for project design and construction. As per Avangrid, True North is its largest solar installation to date and brings its total operational renewable capacity in Texas to nearly 1.6 GW across seven projects.
