Atlas Renewable Energy, a Miami-based clean energy developer, has secured $510 million for its Estepa hybrid project in Chile’s Antofagasta region. The project includes a 215 MW solar plant and 418 MW of battery storage and is expected to generate 600 GWh annually. According to Atlas, the system is designed to provide continuous electricity supply by storing excess solar energy for use during non-generation hours. The asset operations are scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. The financing was arranged through a consortium including BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, DNB Bank, Scotiabank Chile, SMBC, and Bank of Nova Scotia. Atlas has stated that Estepa is supported by long-term PPAs with Codelco and Colbun, major firms in Chile’s mining and energy sectors.
