China-based PV module manufacturer,Astronergy has supplied 472 MW of ASTRO N5 modules to PetroChina’s utility-scale solar station in Qinghai Province. The facility, located in the Gobi Desert, was officially connected to the grid on March 1, 2025. According to PetroChina, the station is expected to generate 2.157 billion kWh of electricity annually. Astronergy stated that the facility will also help reduce wind erosion in the desert area. According to PetroChina, the facility is expected to reduce 1.639 million tons of CO2 emissions each year. ThE project marks a significant addition to western China’s renewable energy capacity, contributing to local environmental protection.
Astronergy delivers 472 MW modules for PetroChina solar station in Qinghai
PetroChina’s solar station in Qinghai’s Gobi Desert has used 472 MW Astronergy ASTRO N5 modules, producing 2.157 TWh power since March 2025.
