Astronergy, a China-based PV manufacturer and solar project developer, has confirmed plans to build a PV cell fab in Turkey. On March 26, its chairman met with President Erdoğan in Ankara to finalize the investment under Turkey’s High Technology Incentive Program, launched in July 2024. The facility will use TOPCon technology and export 80% of its output, making it the country’s first fully foreign-owned solar cell plant. Astronergy already runs a PV module factory in Turkey, and the new plant will complete a local production chain from cells to modules. The initiative is expected to strengthen Turkey’s renewable manufacturing sector. The project also includes partnerships with universities to support high-tech job creation and develop talent for the photovoltaic industry. A 7.3 MW Agri-PV project in Gaziantep has recently deployed Astronergy’s solar modules.
