Arevon, a US-based renewable energy company, has been operating the Vikings Solar-plus-Storage Project in California since October 2024. According to Arevon, the project integrates 157 MW DC of solar generation with 150 MW/600 MWh of battery storage in a 1:1 configuration. Arevon said that the system has enabled daytime energy storage and dispatch during evening peak periods to enhance grid stability. As per Arevon, Vikings has recorded over 1,126 hours of peak-time operation and 690 hours of nighttime energy delivery. Arevon confirmed that the system’s fast response time of under five seconds enables quick energy dispatch for frequency regulation and grid reserve support. Arevon stated that the project was backed by $529 million in private investment, created over 170 local construction jobs, and incorporated components from Tesla, First Solar, and Nextracker.
