The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is funding $20.8 million for Western Power to integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DER) into Western Australia’s power grid. Project Jupiter will create a live marketplace for rooftop solar, batteries, and EVs to support grid stability and lower energy costs. Project Jupiter expands on Project Symphony with support from Synergy, EPWA, and AEMO. Around 40% of households in the region have solar panels. The project will help more consumers join virtual power plants (VPPs) and benefit from their energy systems. By 2028, all new distributed energy resources (DER) in WA will be VPP-compatible.
