Ameresco, Inc., headquartered in Massachusetts, and Detra Solar, announced the progression of two solar projects in North Ayrshire, Scotland. These projects are located on former landfill sites. They will generate 13,177 MWh of clean energy annually, powering over 2,000 homes and reducing CO2 emissions by 3,030 tonnes per year. The Nethermains site required a redesign to protect a badger population, demonstrating the successful integration of renewable energy development and wildlife conservation. The projects will also benefit the local community by generating revenue for North Ayrshire Council through a Power Purchase Agreement and contributing to economic growth.
