US-based energy services company, Ameresco and BXP, publicly traded real estate investment trust has completed a 1.3 MW solar canopy system on a parking garage at Reston Town Center, Virginia. The behind-the-meter installation is expected to generate approximately 1.5 million kWh of electricity annually. The commercial operations beginning by the end of 2024, the project utilizes available rooftop space to supply on-site power to BXP’s facility and supports reduced reliance on the electric grid. It also increases covered parking capacity while functioning as a localized electricity source in an urban setting.Â
