ACCIONA Energía, a Spain-based renewable energy company, has begun construction of a 176 MW solar plant in Daanbantayan, Philippines. This €120 million (~ $130 million) asset is slated to be operational during H2 2026. The PV project is anticipated to produce around 280 GWh of power every year, sufficient electricity to serve more than 300,000 residents. It will include a battery storage system to support grid stability and manage energy dispatch during peak demand. The company stated that this is its first PV project in the Philippines and the largest currently under construction in the Visayas region. For distribution, ACCIONA Energía has signed the Philippines’ first energy-sector public-private partnership with the Cebu provincial government. As per the company’s recent announcement, it has also secured financing for a 480 MW solar project currently under development in Australia.
