Aboitiz Renewables Inc., an affiliate of Aboitiz Power Corporation, has obtained the Final Certificate of Approval to Connect of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines for its 173 MW Calatrava Solar Power Plant in Negros OccidentalThe certification approved that the project compiled with the required technical and operational criteria for grid connection. Located in San Isidro, Calatrava, the facility is currently the largest operating solar and variable renewable energy installation in the Visayas. Aboitiz Renewables stated that the plant will contribute to regional energy supply and assist electricity providers in complying with Renewable Portfolio Standards. Two more solar facilities—in Olongapo City and San Manuel, Pangasinan—are in progress, with commissioning and grid integration scheduled for the third quarter of 2025 through the Castillejos and San Manuel substations.
