The Will County Board has approved two solar projects totaling 5.4 MW in Illinois. TurningPoint Energy received a 13–9 vote for a 3.4 MW facility at La Grange Road and West Monee-Manhattan Road in Monee. Green Garden Township stated that the project aligns with its land use plan. According to TurningPoint Energy, the project will create 50–75 jobs and generate $395,000 in property tax revenue over 25 years. It is the company’s eighth approved solar project in Will County. Cenergy Power and ESP Solar PLLC received approval for a 2 MW project in Peotone through a 12–11 vote, with County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant casting the tiebreaker. Will Township opposed the plan, and Judy Ogalla emphasized the need for farmland protection as solar development increases.
