Trinasolar, a photovoltaic manufacturer based in China, has introduced the first industrial-standard perovskite/silicon tandem PV module exceeding 800 W. The 3.1 m² module, built on 210 mm × 105 mm tandem cells, achieved a peak output of 808 W, as certified by TÜV SÜD. Designed for compatibility with existing production lines, the 210 mm format supports seamless integration and accelerates tandem module deployment. With a theoretical efficiency ceiling of 43%, tandem technology offers a viable path beyond the performance limits of conventional silicon cells. Trinasolar partnered with Nanjing University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences on national research efforts to advance the technology. Backed by 331 patents, the company has enhanced cell efficiency through innovations in perovskite bulk doping, interface engineering, and composite layer structures, laying the groundwork for high-volume manufacturing.
