Sungrow, a China-based supplier of inverters and energy storage systems headquartered in Hefei, has launched a large-scale residential inverter trade-in program in Australia to accelerate system upgrades and strengthen lifecycle energy solutions. According to Sungrow, eligible users are required to process trade-ins through certified installers, who must verify device eligibility, submit documents, and install hybrid inverter and battery replacements at the same address. Sungrow has specified that rebates are issued only after old devices are returned, systems installed, and documentation approved, with rebate amounts varying by model and condition. The program, launched in July, has already completed pilot installations, with installers reporting strong consumer interest and Sungrow optimising logistics and recycling standards in line with Australia’s evolving electronic waste regulations expected by 2030. Sungrow has also stated that its fifth-generation hybrid inverters support advanced functions including solar-storage integration, remote firmware updates, and vehicle-to-grid readiness.
