Neighborhood Sun, a Maryland-based community solar provider, has launched SunEngine, a mobile app available on both iOS and Android platforms. The app is designed to let over 30,000 subscribers track savings, monitor environmental impact, and manage accounts directly from their mobile devices. According to Neighborhood Sun, the current version is a minimum viable product, with planned updates based on user feedback. SunEngine supports more than 325MW of community solar projects across 14 utility territories in the US. Neighborhood Sun has used proprietary software to automate subscriber enrollment and operational processes. The company said it has delivered over $8million in energy savings to its users through this platform. With the launch of the app, Neighborhood Sun is aiming to increase accessibility and improve user engagement in distributed clean energy programs.
