LONGi, a China-based solar technology company, has achieved a world-record 27.81% efficiency for its Hybrid Interdigitated-Back-Contact (HIBC) monocrystalline silicon solar cell. The result was announced at LONGi’s Wuhu base and certified by the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH) in Germany. According to LONGi, the cell was developed by its Central Research Institute through redesigned structural and material systems to improve optical and carrier performance. The company has previously reported records of 26.81% in 2022 and 27.63% in early 2025. LONGi said that advancements in HPBC 2.0 and the maturity of back-contact technology have supported industrial scalability. As per LONGi, its lighthouse factory model is being used to support high-efficiency production. The achievement reflects ongoing improvements in power density and readiness for commercial photovoltaic manufacturing.
