LONGi, a China-based photovoltaic product manufacturer, has announced dual certified efficiency records recently. As per LONGi, its crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell has reached 34.85% efficiency, a new world record certified by NREL, following earlier results of 33.9% in November 2023 and 34.6% in June 2024. The tandem device is approaching its theoretical efficiency ceiling of 43%, surpassing the 33.7% limit of single-junction cells. In a separate update, LONGi has achieved 27.81% efficiency for its Hybrid Interdigitated-Back-Contact crystalline silicon solar cell, which was verified by Germany’s ISFH. Both results have been validated by independent institutions and indicate significant progress in LONGi’s tandem and monocrystalline photovoltaic cell development.
