LONGi, a China-based photovoltaic product manufacturer, has announced dual certified efficiency records recently. As per LONGi, its crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell has reached 34.85% efficiency, a new world record certified by NREL, following earlier results of 33.9% in November 2023 and 34.6% in June 2024. The tandem device is approaching its theoretical efficiency ceiling of 43%, surpassing the 33.7% limit of single-junction cells. In a separate update, LONGi has achieved 27.81% efficiency for its Hybrid Interdigitated-Back-Contact crystalline silicon solar cell, which was verified by Germany’s ISFH. Both results have been validated by independent institutions and indicatesignificant progress in LONGi’s tandem and monocrystalline photovoltaic cell development.
