KISTERS, an Aachen-based provider of environmental data solutions, has launched a unified hail risk management platform across Europe for the solar, agriculture, and insurance sectors. The system is integrating real-time hail alerts, 48-hour forecasts, 90-minute nowcasts, and post-event analytics customized for European weather conditions. To support this functionality, KISTERS has partnered with St. Gallen-based Meteomatics, which has developed hail size as a forecast variable. This variable has been integrated into the KISTERS datasphere platform to power localized alerts and analytics. The platform is designed to enable timely decisions, including securing solar infrastructure or processing insurance claims based on verified storm data. The platform addresses challenges caused by Europe’s fragmented, high-cost weather data landscape. By consolidating multiple weather sources into one system, KISTERS has reduced data complexity and improved accessibility for hail-exposed industries operating across diverse regions in Europe.
