DartSolar LLC, headquartered in the US, previously developed a 1,000-watt expanding solar roof rack in 2024, has now created a 2,000-watt version that can charge EVs for 40 miles per day or power small homes. The system uses custom 1/8-inch-thick solar panels, 3D-printed components, and aluminum telescopic tubes, expanding to 2,000 watts when parked and contracting to 360 watts while driving. Designed for future upgrades, it is expected to reach 3,000 watts by 2027 using tandem solar cells with 30% efficiency. The modular system fits most EVs, including Tesla vehicles, and offers replaceable components with 3D-printable parts. Priced at $1,950 or $80 per month, it provides an off-grid alternative to traditional EV charging methods.
