Ascent Solar Technologies, a US-based manufacturer of thin-film photovoltaic modules, has signed a Master Services Agreement with NOVI Space for supplying rollable CIGS PV array blankets. The modules will power NOVI’s AI-based Earth observation satellites, which are scheduled to launch in early 2026. NOVI Space has confirmed the satellites are equipped with edge computing systems for on-board data processing. The rollable solar arrays are designed to enable quicker deployment and simplified satellite constellation assembly in orbit. NOVI Space has agreed to share in-orbit performance data to help Ascent improve its space-grade PV technologies. Ascent Solar is manufacturing the modules at its 5 MW production facility located in Colorado, US, with a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks.
