US-headquartered Nauticus Robotics, an autonomous robot for the ocean industry, has partnered with Open Ocean Robotics to advance autonomous subsea and surface vehicle operations. The collaboration combined Nauticus’ Aquanaut® subsea systems with Open Ocean Robotics’ solar-powered USV, DataXplorer™, to reduce costs and emissions from subsea inspections and monitoring. The integrated solution allowed real-time, persistent data collection without crewed vessels. The solar-powered USVs operated for long durations, helping energy operators monitor infrastructure like pipelines and risers more frequently and efficiently. The companies aimed to address operational challenges in offshore energy through automation and clean technology.
