Monochrome Co., Ltd., a Japan-based developer of building-integrated PV systems headquartered in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, has introduced a silver color option for its Roof–1 product line. Sales of the silver panels began on September 3, 2025, expanding choices beyond the existing black version to meet architect demand for flexible façade designs. The black Roof–1 panels have a rated output of 110 W and are priced at ¥27,000 (~$184), while the new silver panels have a 75 W output and cost ¥35,000 (~$238). Both versions measure 1915 mm by 384 mm by 30 mm, designed to integrate seamlessly into roofing structures, including complex roof shapes unsuitable for conventional solar modules. Monochrome has previously highlighted installations at the Awaji Earth Museum and Azabu House, while a showcase residence featuring silver Roof–1 panels is scheduled for spring 2026 completion in collaboration with Takeda Kiyoaki Architects.
